Today is National Donut Day!  Share a little love with someone with this catchy little tune and a donut!
LIfe without Jesus is like a donut, 'cause there's a whole in the middle of your heart!
Share with parents of young children. It's a fun, easy little song!
Happy Donut Day!

REMINDER: YM/CL Meeting....Thursday, June 8 ONLY!
No Friday meeting this time.  However, I am offering a "google hangout" for anyone who would like to join virtually.  Please email me BEFORE noon on June 8 so you can get the link for the web conference.  The agenda includes:
  • Eastern Region Super Grant Discussion
  • PCA & Regional Gatherings for 2017-18
  • Heart of the Catechist Calendar
  • Confirmation Retreat Calendar for 2017-18
  • Other questions & concerns

Intergenerational/Family Approaches for Catechesis
Intergenerational/Family catechesis involves the whole parish/family learning about the same faith topic and incorporates most or all of the six tasks of catechesis, including knowledge, service, liturgy, community, prayer and morality.     As we look at next year's catechetical theme, "Living as Missionary Disciples", I found that CRS has intergenerational lessons from which to choose.  Examples titles include:
  • Mother Theresa
  • RiceBowl - Lenten Event
CRS also has a page called, "forming missionary disciples" that has lessons and resources to use for various units on social justice issues.  These can also be used in modified ways for an intergenerational event.
Other intergenerational events can be found on Loyola Press (Intergenerational Catechesis) - Sadlier We Believe(Whole Community).
The western region of the Diocese of Syracuse also created an intergenerational event titled, "God Rocks" that can also be used by any parish.
I would like to ask if any parish or PCA would like to host an intergenerational event that can be worked on collaboratively with other leaders so as to experience the entire process of working on an intergenerational event.  I will help with the planning and resourcing.
If your Parish or your PCA is interested in hosting an Intergenerational/Family event, please call me so that we can work on a calendar date.  Calendars fill up quickly, so plan now for a date in your 2017-18 calendar year!

NCCL - Transformative Leadership: Imagination, Vision, Missionary
Well, that was the title from this year's NCCL conference that I attended last week in Dallas, Texas.  The conference was truly transformative and has provided me with so much to think about over the next several months, especially as our office will be undergoing changes.  From Sr. Lynn Levo,  Fr. Ron Rolheiser and Jack Jazreel, to John Roberto, Bob McCarty and John Angotti - it was truly a very rich conference.
I would highly recommend looking into being at the conference next year in Chicago, May 29-June 2.  In the meantime, you may want to join or update your membership in NCCL (nccl.org)  Once you do, I recommend perusing their website and joining the Parish Leaders Forum (discussion board) where you can network with other leaders across the country to discuss issues and share resources and practices.     If you do want to participate in the NCCL conference, remember to apply for a Heritage Scholarship to help with costs.
