Remind101 is a web service that allows you to create classes for your students and parents to receive reminders, alerts or other notifications by way of text messages or email. What makes this different is that all of the information is kept anonymous. Your students will not know your cell phone number and you will not know theirs. The service creates a new anonymous phone number for your account, and you...
...create class names. The class name will include an "@" symbol.
For instance, I created an account in which you (students/parents) can join to receive text messages from me by texting to (315) 790-6348 and type the message @easternreg to join that particular class or text to the same number but type @bookclub-e to join the bookclub alerts.
Students and parents don't need cellphones. You can also invite them to receive emails rather than text messages. You can also share the web address that is created for joining the class. This web address can be placed on your registration pages or class newsletter, or on your website. For example, here are two classes I created for you to join if you want alerts from the office or for the bookclub. If this was for your program, you can set up separate classes for Elementary, Confirmation, First Communion Class, etc. and post the address on your website or on a newsletter. When sending a message, you can choose one class to send the message, or you can choose to send the same message other classes you created.
Join the Reminder List that meets your needs:
Eastern Region office: https://www.remind101.com/join/easternreg
Book Club Information: https://www.remind101.com/join/bookclub-e
The service also provides a handout that you can print or post for your parents. For example, these were the pages created automatically for my "classes" above that can easily be distributed to parents and students as a handout:
One other aspect of Remind101 that is super-cool is that it also provides an option to create a widget. That means you can create an app that can be embedded on your website which displays your reminders. Students and parents can check the website for any messages that were sent. You can display one particular class to display, or choose which ever classes you want displayed. Here I am showing the widget for just the eastern region and next to it is the widget with both the easternreg and bookclub-e:
This is the GREATEST tool I have found yet! I highly recommend it. It's super easy, safe and extremely effective for pushing notifications out!
