Blessing of the Well
The meeting on March 9 &10 focused on "Divine Pedagogy" with presenter Robin Kennovin from Our Sunday Visitor. We began the meeting with prayer as we always do, but our prayer began with honoring and praying for Bishop James Moynihan. Please take time to also pray with the power point of images. Then continue prayer by "going to the well."

Heart of the Catechist![]()
This engaging workshop is based from an address from Pope Francis to the International Congress on Catechesis that emphasizes the importance to catechists and their value to the New Evangelization, for ministering to those at the periphery. Three workshops are upcoming in the east. Please encourage your catechists to join us at one of the events... OR...call me to schedule the 2.5 hour workshop at your parish/PCA.

April Faith Formation Meeting with Kevin Dowd![]()
FLYER
The next Faith Formation Leaders' meeting is April 27 & 28. Please note this will be held at Mt. Carmel's Salerno Room. Kevin Dowd is being sponsored by Pflaum Publishing Group. Kevin will present “Using Scripture in Catechesis”. Dave Barocsi, the area representative from Pflaum will offer dinner and breakfast to "lift your spirits!" Family Prayer Bag Idea![]()
I found this idea and thought it was a really neat way to encourage families to pray using tangible items that make prayer fun. I have a pdf of ideas to put in the prayer bag. You can use all of or some of them at one event. Or, you can start with 3 or 4 items and have the students return the next week to get another prayer activity. You can be creative with this. You can also make seasonal prayer bags for Lent or Advent. Below you will find the pdf for the prayer activities. I also included the pdf with the template for the "Squares" prayer activity.
Divine Pedagogy in "Faith Alive!"![]()
I was so happy to welcome Robin Kennovin, Catechetical Consultant for Our Sunday Visitor. Ride 4 Faith![]()
PDF
Christine Gray, youth minister from St. Mary of Mt. Carmel, has put together an incredible faith awareness event highlighting participating parishes in the Utica area. A bike riding event on April 29th to visit various parishes and learn something special at each parish. With the help of the Good News Collaborative Parish grant which has helped the Eastern region parishes develop youth events, Christine has organized a true "whole community" event. Working the police departments of 3 jurisdictions, the bike route is safe and monitored by the police. At each parish, there will be a short teaching as well as snacks. The participating youth are also collecting donations for the Mother Marianne Soup Kitchen. No bike? No problem! Please see the flyer for all the details! For glossy printed brochures, please contact Anne Elacqua at aelacqua@syrdio.org Catholic Young Adult Mixer![]() The eastern region Collaborative Young Adults have begun a new working relationship with the already established young adult group from St. Louis Gonzaga. The group has done several young adult mixers and fund raisers. Over 100 young people raised $6000 for Children's Miracle Network and $3000 for the Good News Foundation. The group from St. Louis Gonzaga is working now with Dick Vetere to have a nice evening of socializing and networking. Please invite the young adults from your parish. To get large posters or distribution postcards, please contact Dick Vetere at dvetere@syrdio.org We would really appreciate posters being placed around the community, ie grocery stores, colleges, etc.
Click here for small handout sheet template of the above poster.
Good Friday Stations of the Cross
